Short version - In a recent conversation someone tried to use the example of them never doing a particular task as the same as never seeing a black person playing the Ukulele or giving up chicken. Little comments like this I no longer verbally respond to I just burn through ignorance with action. I tell that to say this: You are not permitted to give me, my experience of my culture or background definitions or boxes. I define what my ‘blackness’ is, not tired old watered down racist connotations. #dropsmicandstartsplayingruffrydersanthemwithmypurpleukulele
